Bringing Culture to Your Care

Whether you’re expecting or supporting someone who is, I’m happy that you found your way here! I’m Evanjelene, a certified doula and maternity nurse providing support throughout pregnancy, birth, and the early days of new parenthood in London. Whichever way your pregnancy and birth journey unfolds, I’m here to provide the support and guidance you need to feel confident and cared for throughout.

Mothering Mothers whilst they focus on Motherhood.

Hi! And welcome to Luma Mother, a place designated to supporting mothers and families as they step into life with their new baby. My care brings a holistic approach that is rooted in gentleness, patience and advocacy, helping parents feel held, rested, and confident in what is possibly the newest and most special season of their lives.

Warmth and care are values that are imbedded within my approach, and I believe they are the things that provide a family with a balance that's needed. I believe that mothering a newborn starts by mothering the mother, and by allowing families to feel supported and understood, they are able to welcome their little one into their arms with the confidence they need.

Every family’s journey is unique, and my role is to offer not only gentle structure, encouragement and practical support, but also a sense of calm and belonging. My hope is to allow families a gentle space where they can truly enjoy their new, special moments together.

what can a doula do for you?

Welcoming a baby into the world can sometimes be the unknown, but is definitely one of the most powerful experiences that a woman can go through, and a doula is there to guide them, helping them to navigate the emotions, challenges, and questions that might come along with the journey. We're here to help you through all stages of your first, second, third and fourth trimester, ultimately, someone to rely on.

A doula statistically helps to lower your chances of having a caesarean, even if you have had one with your previous births. Women who have the support of doulas are also twice as likely to initiate breastfeeding, and continuous doula support has been shown to increase the chances of a spontaneous vaginal birth. Doula's also increase parental satisfaction with the birth experience, and it has been shown that they lower the incidence of depressive symptomatology. Birth has always and will continue to be an experience which is entirely individual and incredibly powerful. The phrase "it takes a village", however true, can become quite challenging when family move away, friends have their own schedules, and time just appears to slip from us. The care that once was provided by our village struggles to become a possibility, but that is where a doula can step in. The caring face you know, the person you can rely on, and the one who is just a text away from support and answers.

"Evanjelene has been an absolute angel, especially in those early months. She made sure I ate, helped look after my youngest while I rested and always looked after me, as well as my daughter. Her help was invaluable to me when I needed it most"
